Message: In the last couple of days, it seems like my shifter on my 5sp has gotten rean notchy. If there any fix for this? When I goto shift it into gears its not as smooth as it used to be? Is there a way to oil this? Or does that use the transmission oil. In that case what fluid do I use? I want a Mobile 1 synthetic product is there one for the manual 5spd?

Message: Im not sure but i think the fluid in the hydralic clutch has nothing to do with the feel of the shifter. I might be wrong. But i think that any fluid given that there is no air should make the clutch feel smooth. As far as the shifter goes if thats notchy then i dont think the problem is the fluid. Maybe a linkage. But i dont know anything about the 5 speed used in the dakotas so dont take my word for it.

Message: Has the weather been HOTTER than before or have you been driving at high speeds for hours when you experience the "nothcy" shifting?
I have experienced this after traveling at 60-70 mph for 3-4 hours then exit the freeway into a town. Then, after sitting at a stoplight for awhile the tranny fluid is so thin it shifts differently. (It was around 100 degrees that day)

Message: It has been hot and I noticed my tranny was still warm to the touch three hours after driving it. Thats why Im wondering if I need to change the fluid... I just dont know what brand or type to goto. The book says Mopar Gear Oil, SEA 75W-90, or API GL-3 the only one I know of it redline and I dont know where I can get some locally..
