Subject: fuel or ignition kill? IP: Logged
Message: my 89 F350 has what's called an inertia kill switch to kill power to the fuel pumps in case of a collision; I tapped into one of the wires and installed a toggle switch for my own theft prevention measure.
Is there any such thing on my 04 Dak that I could install a toggle switch on to have the same effect?

Message: Yes. There is an inertia switch for the same reason. Since you have an electric fuel pump, there's a variety of ways to keep that from running. Everything from pulling the fuse, to putting a switch pump circuit. Get a manual, and decide what area is easiest for you to do.

Message: Thanks man. I wasn't sure if a manual was available for the truck yet; I'll check the library before I buy one.

Message: I did the exact thing. I spliced into the wiring harness into the wire that went form the PCM to the relay box for the Fuel Pump.
I don't have a switch. I made mine electronic and it's automatic. You can't find where I spliced in and my electronics are hidden and look factory so it's almost fool proof.
Each time you turn the key to "on" you HAVE to touch a hidden sensor in my truck THEN you can start it. If you don't it wont even turn the starter or engage the fuel pump. After a few seconds the ODOMETER displays "no bus".
I didn't know splicing into that circuit would also kill the starter but that is a good thing it does.
Oh yeah. For the times I take it to a shop or the dealer I eventually spliced in an invisable connector to insert a bypass jumper to overide the kill. Then it starts as normal.
I've had my auto security working for most of the year now and I love it. It's automatic for me to touch the sensor right after I turn the key on and I can leave the keys in the ignition to the ACC position to play the radio and someone could jump in and would never be able to start it. I had a glitch on the first circuit board I made and it took me a long time to trace the wiring and bypass it and I'm the one who made it.
Deffinitely better than any security you can have installed at a audio shop!
