Subject: CPS Problem IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know what could cause my crankshaft position sensor to malfunction? I dont notice any problems with the truck or anything, but the check engine light is on and I get 0320 as one of the codes, which is the CPS. Then again, I bought the truck used and the light was on, so maybe Ive never felt it drive good...? :P Im not even really sure what is "wrong" with it, in my Chilton book it says P0320 is "Crankshaft Position Sensor Problem". Wow, thanks for being so specific...Also, does anyone know where I could buy one of these if a new one is needed and how much they cost? I tried calling a few local auto shops (Murrys, Napa...) but they said they dont have any listing for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks again.

Message: Not sure the cause of the problem, but when I did the CPS mod, I bought a new sensor instead of screwing my current one up.
$48 at Autozone
I think Advance Auto Parts has em as well for around $90...hence the reason I chose Autozone. lol

Message: did you try resetting the pcm to see if the code comes back? maybe whoever you bought it from fixed the prob but didn't reset the pcm.

Message: Yeah I reset it (I took off the battery cables) when I changed a battery connector, but the light came back on. But strangely enough, the light didnt come on when I got up this morning...I have no idea why, but Ill keep you posted about what happens. And I have a manual transmission, I think that makes a big difference in the price, for whatever reason. I think Murry's has it for like $108 (my dad called so I dunno what store) so I was hoping to find it a bit cheaper :P Thanks alot though.
