Dodge doesn't make tow hooks for the 2001 Dakota (even though the front bumper has hook slots). Is anyone making after-market hooks yet?

We've been hashing this topic over on the OffRoad forum.

Few ideas ... nothing specific to the new Daks made yet, that we can find anyway.

I was just at the dealership the other day and picked up a 2001 Dodge Truck Accessories catalog and i swear i saw a set of 2 tow hooks in there...actually, it's possible that they were only for the Ram.

I'll check it out this evening when i get home.

On a similar note, where is the best (safest) place to hook a chain on if i'm pulling someone out of a snowbank from the rear?

Best rear recovery point is the receiver hitch. I use a 2-inch nylon recovery strap. Insert the loop in the 2-inch receiver and then insert the hitch pin from the side. Can't come loose unless the strap breaks or the hitch comes loose from the truck. A strap is much safer to use than a chain, and easier on the attachment points, and lighter to carry, and easier to handle, and won't rust.

cheers,

-J.
