Subject: what size are your tires IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02 RC 2wd that came with 255/65/16 I want to upsize to a 265/70/16
SO...
Stock tires are 10 inches wide, and 29.5 inches overall tire diamater.
I want to go to a 265 (10.4in wide) and the 70 series that will take the overall tire height to 30.61in
My question is for all you 2wd guys or anyone who knows for sure. Will these tires rub. I do not want to change rims and cant do a lift at this point. According to BFG web site all 93 to present daks can run a 31x10.5 but they do not specify if it is 2or4wd I do not want to do any trimming and have to get rid of these crappy goodyears that came on the truck before the chicago winter hits.
Thanks RVD

Message: If I were you I would go with 275/60-16, same hight as the 255/65-16 but about an inch wider,(without rubbing). The 265/70-16 IS taller but it is also not as wide as the 255/65-16, plus the tach and speedo will not be accurate, but no they will not rub.

Message: fugaziv8,
Those 275/40/16 are an inch smaller then what I have now. They will throw my speedo and tach off too. Do you know for sure the 265/70's wont rub. Thanks for the info

Message: I had the 265/70-16's on my 02 Quad 4x2 and they did not rub, I took them off because they were not wide enough for my liking so I went with the 275/60-16. Check out the tires on most new Tacoma Prerunners, they have the 265/70-16's.

Message: Thanks for the info, I think that I will play it safe and go with the 255/70/16 Bridgestone dueler revos. I am concerned that the quad cab and the RC are different and I will get rubbing with the 265/70/16's thanks for the info

Message: the place I bought my last set of tires had a 30 day guarantee, if I wasn't happy for any reason they would have changed them out. They want to sell you tires, I'm sure you'd be able to find a place that would let you drive with the ones you want for an hour to see if they rub or not. I don't know where you are but the place I went is Kal Tire.
