Message: Well it happened, after a year and a half of babying my truck it finally happened. I stopped at old high school yesterday to catch some of the freshman football game and someone backed into my truck. Luckily I saw it happen and stopped the kid or else he would have taken off. My brothers buddy said it isn’t the first time he hit someone and the other times he just left. Now I have a giant dent in between the right rear wheel well and the taillight. I am curious to know what is going to have to be replaced or if they can just bang it out and repaint it. I want to know because I have a Rhinoliner and it extends over the rails so I don’t know how they would be able to replace it without replacing the liner as well. Anyone have any advice or ideas as to what it might take to get this repaired. I am going for an estimate after I am done work today.

Message: Unfortunately ding king wouldn't work, even if it would it would still need to be repainted. Got my estimate and it is going to cost $2,300, for a new bed side, a new flare for the wheel well, pinstriping, to fix the rhino liner.

Message: I had something similar happen to mine about 2 months after I bough it. Some old guy drove straight in a turning only lane and hit me between the driver wheel well and tail light. I was turning in front of him as the lane I was in was turning or straight. Anyway, he was driving a old 80s LTD a left me with one big smooth dent from the wheel well back. His insurance fixed it, and it was just under $1,000. I didn't have a bed liner, just a rubber piece that runs the length of the truck and a pin stripe.

Total cost was $900 paid by the girl's insurance company...required pulling the dent and all-related bodywork, a new pintstripe, new ram head decal, repainting the bedside.
I spun out a couple years ago and did a slightly worse job than the one in the pic on the passenger side. Punctured the bedside and scraped it to hell. Also busted my taillight. Cost me $1500 to have it done with bodywork, repainting, new pinstripe/ram head decal. They estimated it at $2300 if they went the route of replacing the bedside.

Message: Josh,
That's almost what mine looked like when I got hit. Mine was a little more smoother than yours, the edges of the dent were not as rough. It was about $950 to fix mine. The shop went off the estimate from the guy that hit me's insurance investigator.

Message: Well, I spoke with the kids father and the guy wants me to take it to a different body shop than the one where I got my quote, but I know the people there and I don't have any concerns with the job. What happens if I decide to let the guy shop fix it and I don't like the job? The place I went to said they would have no problem with the pin stripes or the rhino liner, and they also said that the would use mopar parts when replacing the fender flares around the wheel well. I have trust in these guys I don't know about trusting someone else. As this is the first time anything like this has happened to me in six years of driving does anyone have any advice. I assume the guy would like to pay out of pocket and keep it from the insurance, but I don't think he wants to pay the $2300. What should I do?

Message: Hmmm...give the guy a chance and take it into the other shop for an estimate and question them on everything. If they interest you for cheaper, go for it...otherwise tell the guy sorry, but you want it done right and you know the other shop will do it properly. Ain't your fault the guy's kid hit your truck and you don't deserve to have a sh!tty job done on your truck just cuz the guy didn't wanna shell out the cash to have it done right...kinda screws you over there.
And if all else fails and he refuses...can't you/your insurance company contact his insurance company about that? As long as you got the information and stuff...
