In Tucson it gets pretty hot in the summer;110, 150 F. What's the coolest thermostat to run to prolong engine and trans life without affecting performance and staying within the parameters that the computer wants to see? '92 Dakota club cab, 318, auto, air,120,000 miles. Sometimes tow a small travel trailer. I'm installing a trans cooler and putting synthetic fluid in trans. Thank you, Larry

It gets 150 degrees Farenheit their, holy cow! My brother lives in Sierra Vista, he didn't mention it!.

Bernd loves the 180 degree thermostat, since the magnums were made to run at 183 degrees and they have a 195 degree thermo in them.

Check your water pump, ensure it is good, get some good anti-freeze and remove the stupid cold air block next to the passenger headlight. You can reach in the grill and pull it off.

Yup...the Robert Shaw "High Flow" 180 Degree T'Stat works very well. And KJR is right about the Magnums making their most power at 185. (Mopar Muscle had an article/dyno test last year and proved this to be true.)
