I have strong reason to believe I need to replace my cat. I got one of those "universal" cats, which will, as it turns out, not fit my truck (2000 Dodge Dak 3.9 4x4). Does ANYBODY know where I can get either an OEM or direct-fit cat without having to shell out hundreds of dollars? HELP!!

you can get a carsound cat for your truck. not too sure where to get one though. try jcwhitney.com or truckperformance.com.

.....check your warranty. I believe that cats are covered by a 80 KM warranty or 7 years. Check with the dealer. An OEM part may be available for free.....and FREE is GOOD !!Good Luck !

a friend of mine had a v6 Dak for 4 years and had 5 cats. The truck was kept in perfect tune. After each cat failed the dealer had no explanation as to why they failed. Before the last cat failed, my friend installed an aftermarket muffler and tailpipe. The dealer refused the last replacement under fed warranty - they said the muffler/tailpipe caused the cat to fail. NO B.S.
The factory installs crappy cats and when they fail, the dealer replaces them with crappy cats.
avoid the dealer.

I just got mine replaced under the 80k mile warranty that covers that piece of crap part. Would have been $725. You may want to put the original one back on first.
