Don't know about your truck but the 318 was tuned for 87 from the factory.

87 octane is enough for your truck. That's what the factory recommends. If an engine doesn't ping on 87, using a higher octane is a waste of money.

87 is plenty for your 4.7. If it pings using 87
you either have a problem with the engine OR your
local gas station is ripping you off.

stick with the big name stations like BP or Mobil. I've had an occasional bad tank of gas from smaller "mom 'n pop" stations. Seems like the quality of their gas is very inconsistant.
