Subject: Activating Horn Chirp with Power Locks IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know how to REACTIVATE the horn chirp which accompanies the remote power locks? There is a procedure in the owner's manual to disable it, but repeating this process does not reactive it. I have an 03 QC. Thanks.

Message: On my '03 QC (Obviously a Gen3) mine "chirped" with the door lock when I brought it home from the dealer. Because I take the truck hunting I quickly found in the owners manual how to disable it, which I did. Right after that was a section on how to reenable it so I would check the book first. And it's picky so make sure you're doing the steps completely and try more than once if it fails.
So to the second question, yes, on at least some Gen3's you can have the horn acknowledgement that the doors were locked with the FOB.

According to the 03 owner's manual and shop manual, to disable the horn chirp:
1) Turn the ignition to ON (the owner's manual also recommends fastening the seatbelt, to shut up the seatbelt chime)
2) Hold the transmitter LOCK button down for four seconds.
3) While pressing the lock button, press the PANIC button within 6 seconds.
4) Release both buttons when a single chime is heard.
Supposedly, you can repeat this to enable the chirp (although, for some reason, I never get that single chime in step 4, nor does the chirp return).
Or the dealer can enable/disable the chirp with using a "DRB III" scan tool.
