im thinking the dealer put sxt badging on my dakota and didnt realize its a 4.7...?
what is my truck?
its red with black bumpers, power everything, cruise, tilt, QC, 2wd, 4.7.

Sometimes wierd things come from the factory. I have personally seen a half Dodge Omni half Plymouth Horizon come out.
Why a dealer would put SXT stickers on is beyond me but it is possible.
Sounds more like the Sport Package, do you have the window sticker?
Is the bottom of the front and rear bumper painted or gray?

I've got one of those oddball badged SXT's too.
My window sticker says Sport Quad 4x4 w/4.7 V8. I got a "VIP" printout from my Service Advisor it too says Sport Quad 4x4 w/4.7 V8 I think the factory goofed and badged a run of Sports as SXT's.
I'm not complaining some nutbar in a Chevy Colorado tried to race me on Saturday dumb ass thought I had a 3.7 in the truck. Smoked his butt without even hitting 4000 rpm's. :-)

My wife's 2003 Durango is badged as an SXT also yet all the paperwork lists it as a Sport. It has a 4.7L too.

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport that has the SXT decals on the doors. Hmm. Isn't that sort of false advertising. I bought it used with 9K miles in 03 and thought I was buying an SXT when in fact it was a Sport.

Well the Sport that I have was w/o wheel flares and have the 15" rims with 235 75 15 tires. I have since upgraded and bought the wheel flares and 16 rims with 265 70 16 tires. Cost me $700 is all to do so. Got the wheels and great tires on ebay and flares from the dealer.

I bought an SXT this year, my understanding is that the SXT is more like the base model - no power options and fancy doo-dads, but the look of the sport - bigger tires, fender flares etc.....

i believe when the sxt first hit in '01 it was a base package, v6/auto/16" wheels and fender flares. my '00 sport does not have the flares or 16" wheels. i do have tilt & cruise.
