Subject: Rear Axle & Diff. oil change IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2WD 2002 with the 4.7 V8. Does the rear axle fluid and diff. oil need to be changed frequently? I have 70,000 KM on it (about 45K miles). Should I have the rear end serviced?
Thanks

Message: Yes, they need to be serviced regulalrly. How often depends on your use. Hauling and towing should bee sooner than light duty commuting use. Check your service manual /owners manual.

The most important thing to remember is to service limited slips
often (minimum of every 30-35,000 miles for me).
Remember though, It all depends on how you drive and use your
truck.
I use nothing but Amsoil and I always use a gasket v/s silicone.
