Subject: 01 4x4 front hub/bearing removal! IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 01 quad cab 4x4 with 105,000 miles. Tonight I tried to replace my hub assemblies up front. Took off everything.(Brakes, rotor, spindle nut, 3 14mm bolts from the rear). Tried with a dead blow hammer fro 5 minutes to get this loose. Couldn't do it. How do you get it to "pop" loose. If I look at the new one it appears to be tapered. Any special tricks or tools. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: I jsut replaced mine, those 37's will eat em' up. After you've got the calipers, rotors, the pin and nut off the front, and the three bolts from behind it that hold it in, it should just slide off. There's nothing else holing it on, you might have some rust through the splines, so don't be scared to yank on that bitch. Oh yeah, PUT 37M GREASE ON THE BACKING PLATE OF YOUR NEW ASSEMBLY!
