Message: I am going to replace my factory speakers in my Club Cab with 4 new 6.5" speakers. I am considering buying the POLK dX6 speakers. Is this a wise choice? What speakers did you use to replace your stock speakers?

Message: I have a regular cab so i only have two 6.5" speakers but i replaced them with Boston Aucstics(spelling), the sound quality was alot better, plus i have an pioneer head unit. that puts out 40watts to each channel so that helps too. The ploks are a great speaker it just depends on personal preference and the amount you want to spend.

Message: I have a 2001 Club Cab, and the speakers are 6 3/4" from the factory, so you'll need to buy or fab adapters. I upgraded to Infinity Kappas, and not only is the sound considerably clearer and much crisper, but they'll handle A LOT more power.
I smoked a stock tweeter (fronts are component seperates) within a couple of weeks.
I also bought an Infinity amp, but it's already been in for repair once, and the problems are back, so I'm sending it back to Crutchfield, and replacing it with a pair of Profile "Clarus" series amps.
INFINITY : You make a helluva speaker, but forget about the amps... too much noise, too little quality, zero dependability.

Message: I used Infinity Reference (652i) 6.5" all around. They sound great and I am quite pleased. I used the factory speakers (cones and baskets removed, of course) as adapters. I have the factory cd head unit with an Alpine V12 50x4 power amp (and a MTX Thunderform powered by an Alpine V12 125x2). I disconnected the factory tweeters for a HUGE improvement.

Message: This all goes back to what you are willing to spend (what doesn't though). I put A/D/S/ 336IS components in the front and 336IM integrated 6.5" separates in the rear. The price, about $700, and that is as cheap as you will find them (sbhcorp.com). I drive them with a Fosgate Power 800.4. I am going to get my thunderform ordered soon and drive it with a Fosgate Power 500.1. I have an Alpine CDA-D855 headunit.
I know the a/d/s/ speakers are expensive, but you WILL NOT find a better sounding speaker for your truck. At least not without stepping up to a $1250 pair of dynaudio separates. You will swear you are in a concert hall with the a/d/s/ speakers, provided you give them the power they need. So why am I so confident about these speakers? Prior to getting my Engineering degree, I was an installer at a Auto Sound store. We carried Polk, Infinity, Sony and many of the other major brands, but I would for-go my employee discount to order the a/d/s/ speakers. They sound that good.
