Subject: Brake Fluid IP: Logged
Message: I just recently purchased a 2000 Club Cab Dakota, SLT Plus, with 29K. The truck was in excellent condition. One thing that has alarmed me is that my brake fluid in the MC is almost completely BLACK. What is going on with that? I have a Nissan Sentra with 95k and the fluid has NEVER been changed and it is still yellow. I realize that the brakes on the Dakota are under more stress but it doesn't seem that the fluid should be cooked before 30k. Anyone else have this problem? Or is this something very common with these trucks? I know that I have seen other posts on this forum about how bad the break systems are but had no idea.

Message: its not uncommon, its from a number of different things, posibly a little moisture got in the sys and its a little bit of corosion, it could be the brakes were over heated and its a little burnt.
Either way if it bothers you by all means flush the sys. start with the RR wheel, LR wheel, RF wheel, LF wheel for best results. and of course use the appropriat Brake fluid from a sealed container. also you may want to make sure that your MasterCyl cap is installed properly.
