I just bought a 2004 4x4 dakota. One of the options the dealer had was to level the suspension. I was told they do this by rasing the torsion bars, which would make the truck pretty ride horribly on road. Has anyone done this?

Lots do this. Ride is not to rough but it will be stiffer. The best thing to do is align after cranking the TB's and also add some Rancho RSX 9000's shocks that will help the ride some.

i didnt know that was an option from the dealer, never heard of that. but anyways i leverl mine myself its been a few years and i have it written down somewhere but i beleive the rear sat about 2" higher than the front; i cranked the bolts 4 turns and it raised the front about 1.5 inches. It didnt change the ride much just a little stiffer.

Pick ups ride hgher in the rear for a reason. When you hook up a trailer or fill the bed, you don't want the headlights pointing in to the trees. If you never do either of those things, then you could level the truck if it makes you happy.
