Message: I have a 2004 Ext Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 motor. At 3600miles the power steering pump completly shelled out. Has anyone else had this problem?

Message: Mopar is known for lousy PS pumps ever since they started buying them from Saginaw Steering Gear back in the mid 70's. The Intrepid/Concorde 3.5 has a long history of having them go out between 20,000 45,000 miles with 35,000 being the most common range.

Message: Power steering pump problems are common in the 4.7s be it the Dakota, Durango or the Rams. My power steering pump was leaking when I bought the truck because the power steering housing wasn't tightened down during assembly.
My buddy had a 4.7 Ram and the power steering pump went in that at around 8000 miles.
Try searching this site or www.dodgetrucks.org if you want more info on it.
