Message: That sucks when that happens, some bonehead got my 01 SLT a week ago but I got almost all of it out with GS 27, If you can catch a finger nail in the scratch the options are none but sand and repaint, You might try some touch up paint in laquer then lightly wet sand with 2000 grit paper to blend it in, Clear coat looks great until it gets damaged then it becomes the biggest pain in the butt in the world to get fixed. Maybe see if the paint place that wants $400 will cut you a break if you do the prep work before you bring it in, Sand out the scratch, and scuff the rest of the panel. The only other thing I can think of is those paint sticks like those that come with GS 27, They didn't work on my Charcoal grey Chrysler but may do a decent job on a solid color. Good Luck !

Message: Hmmm.. can you get your "comprehensive insurance" to cover the cost?
That IS why you have insurance right...???

Message: Back a few years ago, I was parked on the street while my wife an I attended our company Christmas party. When it was over and we were getting in the truck, I noticed major damage to the hood. It appeared that some one had been moving something heavy and had dropped one end on my hood when passing between my truck and the car in front.
I called the local police and they decided that it was vandalism. I protested that I thought it was only an accident. They still wrote the report - "vandalism" and suggested I discuss with my insurance agent.
The agent read the report and informmend me that my insurance covered - you guessed it "vandalism" with no deduction.

Message: Some cretin scratched his initials within a heart on my fender. Since my deductible is $300, and I've just recently had to replace my ball joints... for now I use Turtle Wax Color Magic (in black). It works really well, don't know if it comes in white though, or how that would look.
Good Luck.

Message: Buy a tube of touchup paint from Dodge. Touch up the scratch, in several coats if necessary, to build up the paint slightly above the surrounding paint. Using 1200 or 1500 grit wet or dry sandpaper and water, very lightly wet sand the area until smooth. Follow this with some polishing compound and glaze, and the repair can be invisible. Eastwoods sells a nice kit for sanding small areas following touch uip work.
