Message: Hi guys. Well, I've come to a point in my life where I just need a bigger truck than my '98 club cab. I'm considering a 2002-2004 Dakota Quad cab 4x4. I have some questions for you guys. I know about the ball joint problem (since I own one), but is that a problem for the '02s and newer? Second, what other things should I look for when inspecting the vehicle? Also, I want the 4.7 with 5 speed auto and 3.92 gearing. I was on one lot so far, and their selection was extremely limited, but I didn't see any with 3.92. Can you get 3.92 with the 5 speed auto? Thanks guys

Message: Get the 03-04,they have four wheel disks with bigger rotors and duel piston calipers. Yes you can get an auto 3.92 4.7. Check under the rug on the front passenger side, pull the plastic rocker panel straight up and reach and feel for water(ac drain can be faulty). Gotta go,others will chime in,good luck!

Message: I have the 2003 Dak R/T and ball joints are still a problem. It's an easy fix...just get Moog ball joints and replace, then you will never have to worry again. The 4 wheel discs brakes are a great improvement on the 2003-2004 Daks as frog already stated.
