Subject: truck kills when i hit gas
IP: Logged

Message:
my truck idles fine, will go in forward and reverse but when i hit the gas, it kills.

i know it can be a possibility of things and my truck sat w/o being driven for 2 weeks so maybe something to do with the gas but i didnt change the air intake or anything so i dont think it has something to do with that. what else can i check that would do that to my truck.

no check engine light neither, im thinking maybe a clogged fuel filter, bad gas, something ? any ideas or you had this problem, what was the cause.

Sounds like a fuel filter or fuel pump to me.

The TPS takes over from the MAP(Manifold absolute pressure) as soon as ya hit the gas pedal. This means your truck will idle fine but as soon as you touch the gas it will die. Is this what's going on?? What truck do you have by the way. I know the part is cheap for a 2000 4.7. Had to replace mine.

98 3.9, yes this is what happened but we pulled off some things and checked some things out. all of a sudden it ran fine again and no problems for about 5 days now. maybe it was gas?
