Message: i'm in a bit of a situation. right now i have a '03 dakota sxt 3.9 reg cab. it's fully paid for and a great truck in my opinion. my situation is at the end of the year i will have the funding and resources to trade in and get a fully loaded 4x4 hemi ram quadcab. this is a one time opportunity for me for personal reasons. it sounds pretty sweet but i don't know much about the ram trucks in general. i'm hoping someone has driven a ram like the one described or ridden in one and could offer me their opinion on it. are they:
1) good price for the power/payload/quality
2) fast enough(a quadcab 4x4 hemi could beat other fullsizes stock for stock couldn't they?)
3) handle well in different driving conditions such as rain and some off-roading
4) worth giving up a dakota or should i trade for quadcab 4.7 dakota and expect close to the same performance given the dakotas smaller size.
I really appreciate the info, i just want to make sure i don't trade in and pay the difference and not be satisfied with the ram. thanks again.

Message: yeah, they are nice trucks, they handle good, plenty of power, good truck overall, i am not the kindof guy to spend 30,000 on a truck, but thats my opinion. the only thing is that they are huge! its like driving a dumptruck compared to my r/t! trucks are only getting bigger and bigger

Message: I work with a friend of mine who owns an 04 loaded QC Ram with Hemi and AWD. That thing sh1ts-n-gits very well. I can't imagine what a 2wd RC could do.
He has the 20" wheel package, and though I like the look of the 17's better, it handles VERY well for what it is and I feel the stiffer sidewall that the 20's create really helps that.
The AWD is nice, cause you can stomp on it to skip around traffic ect and it just hooks. That, and it saves from burning those expensive ass tires. :) I would bet that it does VERY well inthe snow, but it hasn't seen that just yet. I do know that even in hard rain, it feels very settled and in control.
The 20" package includes 3.92 gears, but with the double overdrive in the 5-45RFE, he can still acheive quite respectable fuel mileage (assuming you can keep your foot out of it).
I will tell you where the HEMI really shines though, passing. Once you have a rolling start and punch it, that tach flies to 5500 and you're gone. It is very strong from dead stops, but with a rolling start, its gone.
If you are sure you can afford it (and the fuel you'll burn with it), go with it. I'm a proud Dakota owner, but I will twist my neck farther to look at a nice shiny HEMI that I will to look at a Dakota. :)
