I have one of these elusive Motorsport Daks, with a 4.7 and Auto, RC, Flame Red, every available option including these dealer add-ons Mo-Par bedmat, fiberglass tonnau(sp?), four piece running boards (the only set of it's kind I've ever seen), vent-visors, and bug shield. She has been babied since day one when I was bringing her back home to Michigan from the dealer it was bought at in Pennsylvania. Has yet to see snow or salt, as I keep her in the garage more often than I drive her. Has only 11k miles and is in Showroom Condition. As the Dak was bought NEW in early 2003, I have a 7 year 100k warranty. I see similar dakotas blue book for apx $16k, anyone know if or how much the Motorsport package adds to the resale value??

Thanks in advance!

'01, Red, RC, 4.7, Auto, Motorsports loaded without the options you have, with 14K miles on it is my local paper for $11,995 from a dealer. I've talked to the guy and he told me he'd sell it for $10,500. The truck is mint. Unfortunately, the Motorsports package doesn't seem to add a lot.

The 2001 Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition was a trim package option offered only in the Spring of 2001. The option cost was $635, and the most obvious items were the door decals (Dodge Motorsports in "Roman italic" w/checkered flag and Ram logo), 16x8 Sport wheels in black with machined edge, and Goodyear Eagle #1 yellow letter 255/65/16 tires. The package also included a "sport bag" with about 20 other items. There were 1028 Dakotas made with the option. As with most "potential" collector's items, you have to let the clock do its job, i.e. wait 10-20 years for the value to come around.

I live in Illinois. Go to www.brianbemis.com and search for used inventory. They have it under Dodge Dakota Pickup and not Dodge Dakota (no idea why two different areas). They have a red one with pic for $13,995.

I saw it when we traded in my fiance's jeep last week. Pretty sharp looking. That was only the second or third one I have ever seen. I don't think N. Illinois saw very many of them.

I have seen one in the town of Blanchester, Ohio where I grew up. It sets out on the street, but looks to be in good shape with the original Eagle F1's in place. It's a back RC with a rear spoiler. Was the spoiler part of the Motorsport package? Were all of them V8's or were any of the V6's? This truck also has traction bars in the rear. Are those after market add-ons? If I were collecting Daks, I would try to buy this one from the current owner.
