Subject: windshield washer pump? IP: Logged
Message: Anybody have any problems with there windshield washer pump. Mine is intermittent, sometimes it works fine and when I need it, it doesn't. I was thinking maybe a bad ground. I just started tracing wires and it looks like the ground goes into a bundle and is combined with many other grounds on the fender by the battery. I gave up and figured I'd post this before I dig into it. Maybe the pump is bad? It's a 2002 and its done it pretty much since I got it. During other dealer covered repairs I requested it be looked at, of course I got the "could not duplicate problem" response.

Message: Well, adding another ground can't hurt. I'd start there.
Also be suspect of the switch not suppling the power though. Multifunction switches, especially Chrysler and GM's, are prone to fail.
You could bring a test light with you. When the pump stops working, hook the test light and see if it lights up. Alternatively, you may want to run a wire from the positive terminal right from the pump into the cab, and hook up a little lamp to it. When you spray, the lamp should light. This will let you know you've got power.
Good luck

Never had a washer pump switch fail, on any Mopar I've owned going back 22yrs.
