Subject: rotors and pads IP: Logged
Message: I know that it has been discussed plenty in this forum, but I just wanted to get the current consensus among everyone which rotors and pads I should get for my 2k 4x4 club cab running 32's. At 45k the second set of rotors just warped again and I need something of quality this time. What should I get, and where should I get them? Thanks for all the great advice I've gotten on this site.

Message: Powerslot rotors and Hawk Performance pads. That combo can be found online at the usual places. I got mine shipped to my door for $280.00 from V8performance.com
I've had them on for 30,000 miles with no problems. The pads don't generate much dust either. Good luck!

Message: 2002 Dakota 4X4, 4.7, tow package. I replaced my
warped DC junk with Bindex rotors and ceramic
pads. All for the tune of $175.00 from Advance
Auto Parts.
I'm VERY pleased with the results plus the brakes
feel much better when pulling my 26' travel
trailor down I75 at 70 + MPH.
Good luck

Message: Well, its time for me to change my brakes.
The rotors have been turned twice due to
warping. I'm replacing the rotors, pads,
rear drums and shoes.
Can someone tell me if the bearings are
pressed in or not? The truck is a 2001
Dakota QC 5.9 motor with 54K miles. What
problems might come up?
Thanks,
Gary

Message: $200 for Raybestos Brutestop drilled and slotted rotors and Raybestos Superstop pads from rockauto.com. I'v had them for about a year now, 30-40K, they are great.
I don't know about a 01 5.9, but my 2000 2WD 4.7 has sealed bearings in the front hubs. You can beat them out with a lot of grief or have them pressed out/in without greif. The bearings are about $50 each, 1 for each side. It took me 20-30 minutes to beat the snot of the bearings to get them out, took some heat before they let go. Getting them in was a breeze, freeze the bearing and heat the hub to 150-180. They slide together easly with the temperature difference, but lock rock solid once both peices get the same temp.
