I got in an accident a few weeks ago and as it looks my dak is gonna get totaled. I was thinking about how I could make the best of this, and thought maybe I could part it out for money. does anyone know about the legality of this and if it would be worth it(trans, rear end, drive shaft, pass. leaf spring, pass. door and rear quarter, and front bumper are damaged, 3.9L)

If your insurance company totals the truck out and pays you off the truck goes to them and they junk it. you can buy it back for a nominal fee 3-500$ and then part it out yourself. I did that to my motorcycle a while back. I bought it back for 100$ and parted it out for 2500$ total. The title will come back to you as a salvaged vehicle.
Im nto sure what the parts are worth. Look around and youll get a good idea of what the parts are worth and what is in demand
Hope this helps
Rob

If you can get it for $500, it's worth parting out. Pull the engine and you'd get $500 for that with a complete harness and computer. Interior parts are worth a bit too, and if the hood is straight.... eBay everything. Alternator, wiper motor, fuel pump!!! When you pull everything worth $100 or more, tow it to a scrap yard and hand them the title.
