Subject: Broken Power Window IP: Logged
Message: First and only problem with my truck so far:
I have a 2000 QC and my Drivers side back window will not work anymore. It does not go up or down anymore. I cannot open or close the window from either the drivers seat or the back seat. Both power lock buttons work fine. What should I do to troubleshoot this problem first....or where should I start to diagnose this problem....I'm just looking for input before I go ahead and tear the door panel off...
Any and all suggestions are welcomed!
Thank You,
2KQC

Message: I've seen this alot on GM trucks and it ended up being the wiring harness that cross over from the door frame to the door. Because the door opens and closes so much after awhile the wires dry and crack then end up breaking. I would look there to see if the ground is broken. Check fuses too.

Message: first check the fuses..second..check the swith itself. I work at mopar parts..and i see that we package a whole lot of window switches which leads me to believe that they are replaced quite often...from there it's either the motor or a bad ground.

If all those checks don't help check your regulator assembly.

Message: I also have a 2000 QC, and the same thing happened to both back windows. The first one I had fixed at the dealer and the second one I took the electric motor, that sits inside the door, out and fixed it. The springs that push the little magnets into the coil inside the motor suck and were not pushing the magnets toward the coil as they wear.

Message: Does it seem like its trying to go down at all? If not then possibly the motor like those above suggest, if it does try to move but seems like its bound up then its probably the rubber in the tracks that the window slides up & down in.
Mine has the felt worn off and the rubber is gripping the window preventing it from moving. Sure some WD40 works for a couple of days but then it binds up again.
