Will the tranmission in my 99 Dakota bolt up to a 4.7 liter or a 360? My Dakota is a V-6 by the way.

I believe the 3.9 has the same bolt pattern as a 318/360, but the 4.7 is differant.
However, physically bolting it up is not the issue. You should never put a 6 cyl trans behind a 8 cyl engine if you expect it to last any amount of time. After the first few times of tromping on the gas to "test" the new motor, there goes the tranny. You're setting yourself up for failure, and a lot more work in the near future.

Is Dodge still putting the A500 behind the V6's? I just rebuilt mine after failing with old V6 power (what is it, 170hp stock?), so I don't think it's a great idea to bolt the extra power to it.

The A500 will hold up just fine if certain factory issues are addressed, mostly by installing a TransGo kit. These trannys are easily built to handle 500hp engines, but to get this level of performance, again, you have to use better than the crappy paper-type clutches, and other CHEAP parts. In other words, it'll cost more like $2500, instead of the $1000-$1500 fee for an average rebuild.
