Subject: Fluid Leak IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 4.7l Quad Cab. In the last 6 weeks I have seen spots on the driveway after the truck sits for an extended period of time. I have checked oil and transmission fluid levels and have seen no drop off. I have had it into the 2 separate Non-dealer mechanics each saying they couldn't find anything. Now, I know there are spots on my driveway. Any ideas about where the fluid is coming from?

Message: First off, what kind of fluid is it? Oil, gas, water, trans? Until you figure that out, you're just guessing.
Next, clean the suspect are extremly well with a high pressure washer and a good degreaser. Do it a couple of times to make sure it's really clean. Leave the hood open, and let it sit for a day or two to be sure that it's completly dry.
Now sprinkle a little corn starch around the suspect areas. Run the engine, and watch for the corn starch to change color, indicating a fluid leak. Rinsing with water will remove the corn starch.
