i want to start the body work on my dakota...


-ive got a lotta little ding and dent, what would be the best way to repair them? hammer and dolly them out and then use body filler? what is the best body filler out there?

-what kind of primer should i use?

-what kind of paint should i use and where should i get it?

-what kind of clear coat should i use and where should i get it?

-what should i do about wet sanding?





are there any good site that talk about doin paint and body work at home?

1 depends on what you mean by little, as far as "best body filler" ask five guys about five different brands and get five different answers.
2 sandable, dark for dark body(red brown etc.) colors lighter gray (light grey, yellow, light blue etc.) for lighter paints
3 I use duplicolor but some swear by dupont, an auto parts store, dealer or distributor of automotive paints will sell it in small and medium spray cans, some in pints, quarts and gallons for spray guns.
4 same brand as the color coat and from the afore mentioned source.
5 wet the paper,take a few stokes, repeat. start out with 150 grit and work down to at least 400 or better yet 600.
6 try your local library in the automble repair section, my local branch has several different books, each uses a slightly different method but all get you to the finished product.

theres alotta surface rust and parking lot dings, nothing major.

ill look into the books at the library at college... im just looking to get into primer right now, do some shaving and some other mods...
