Subject: Dunlop Mud Rovers - Buyer Beware ! IP: Logged
Message:
I have had a set of Dunlop Mud Rovers on the rear of my truck
for a week now and I love the off road traction that they provide.
The problem is the highway and interstate ride and handling ....
It's downright DANGEROUS !
I took my truck to the tire dealer that sold me the tires and
took one of the salesman for a ride.
I scared the CRAP out of him whenever I wiggled the steering
wheel at 55 m.p.h.
The salesman said he has never seen a set of tires handle so
poorly and he thinks it is due to the tread design.
He also stated that he would give me a full refund on the tires
and apply that towards a set of BF Goodrich Mud Terrains.
The Mud Rovers cause excessive fishtailing at highway speeds
and therefore I find them to be unfit for highway use.

Message: tirerack.com rates them one step better than the BFG's.
comparison chart
also, what do you expect from an offroad-designed mud tire, especially when they are only on your rear wheels?

Message: I had a set of 33x12.5 dunlop mud rovers on my old truck. They were outstanding. I at the time was traveling about 80 miles of highway a day for work and had no such problems. Check your air pressures on all 4 tire's.

Message:
This is not my first set of mud tires I have ever purchased.
I am 39 years old and have a lot of experiance with tire
combinations.
I also have over 10 years of experiance in tire sales and
installation in a previous life here on earth.
With BFG Commercial Radials on the front and Dunlop Mud
Rovers on the rear this truck should handle great ... It does not.
The tire dealer stated that he thought that the combination
of tires that I had would be a great set-up but it wasn't.
Plus .... He stated that this will be the third set that he has had
to send back to his distributor.
Last week I called a good friend of mine who works at another
tire retailer and questioned him about the Mud Rovers.
He stated that they are a very inexpensive mud radial with great
off road traction and terrible highway performance .... end of
quote.

Message: I have tried a lot of tires over the years. I believe tirerack's ratings to be fairly accurate. Aren't the ratings made by the consumer and not the company?

Message: I'm with Uh Jeff on the review. Who knows how the 'consumer' responses have been edited. Talk to someone who OWNS the tires, not someone selling them.

Message: dumb lop - if you're so tire saavy why did you buy these terrible tires that the salesman knew were terrible?
maybe next time with all your tire experience you could ask the tire dealer how many he's sent back to his distributor before you go through all the trouble of buying and mounting them just to find that your good friend at another tire dealer doesn't reccommend them after you've already bought them. but with all your tire experience you probably already knew this, and just chose to be a dumb lop yourself.
also, in doing a quick google search for those tires, i find nothing but good reviews of them.
