Subject: Rear window tint and floor mats IP: Logged
Message: Just settling into my new-used '03 QC and need to get some quality floor mats for the winter months here in MN. I am looking at the Xtreme Catch-Alls and wondering if anyone else out there has an opinion on these? Also, my rear window is untinted and I would like to get it done to match my back sides, would anyone recommend doing it yourself? It is a solid rear window and I consider myself pretty handy and articulate so that wouldn't be a problem, I just am hesitant because of the horror stories (eg, bubbles) that I have heard of in the past. Any advice is welcome! Thanks.

Message: Ehren,
I have done my own tinting on the truck that I owned previous to my dakota. I did the front side windows. I found that if you take you time and are very careful about what you are doing it will come out fine. Just remember to use soapy water in a spray bottle to push all of the bubble out of the tint.

Message: I have done many tintings on windows and the bubbles are nothing to fear..,First of all, make sure you clean the window real good, but not with anything that may have ammonia...find out which side of the tint is the actual tint and which is just the clear covering (use some masking tape on the corner of the tint, sticking it together then pulling it apart until it grabs both sides, you'll see what i mean when you try it, just pull it apart a little bit...then lay the tint on the outside of the window with the clear side facing you (get a couple of extra hands for this part)...trace the window out with a marker and cut the tint(leave a little extra when you cut it, about 1/4 inch)...now get another person to help peel it apart, and spray the heck out of it with soapy water and the window interior too. Slap it up to the window and slide it around 'til its in place, then squeegee all the water and bubbles out. work from the center out and have someone outside point out where you need to sqeegee(they will be able to see the bubbles better). keep at the bubbles, pressing them out as they may reappear, but don't let them frustrate you, they will stick down. If you have trouble you could always try to peel it up and spray it down again. The bubbles shouldn't give you a problem because the window is fairly flat. trim any of the edges with a new sharp razor. Email me if you want some more help. jbahr@twcny.rr.com good luck
