Subject: Keyless Entry/Security System?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey all...
Yesterday I read on another board that if your truck came with keyless entry that it also already has the security system pre-installed. Apparently it just has to be enabled in the computer.
Anyone have any experience with this?

Message: I believe that is right. My wife's Caravan did not come with an alarm system. It does have the keyless entry.
Occaisionally, if you unlock the doors with the key instead of the remote controll, an alarm will go off (horn honks/lights flash) and the engine will not start. you have to use the remote controll to unlock the doors and stop the alarm.

Message: It's roughly the same setup, I have the factory alarm equipped in my truck and I notice it's really no difference with just a keyless entry system.
Only way to tell the difference is, pop the hood latch, close the door, then hit the lock on the remote. Which arms the alarm, then open the hood and see if the alarm goes off.
