Subject: What is this for?? IP: Logged
Message: I took off a bar that was on the end of the chassis in order to put on my roll pan and weld in my hitch. It is about a 2" round pipe with rubber ends connected to brackets that bolted to the end of the chassis. All it seems to do is "wiggle" around. What the hel! does it do?

Message: It's a vibration dampener.
It is used to reduce the vibration of the frame caused by road conditions and frame oscilation.

Message: tlc361 is right. I think those only came on 4x4's right? My '01 Sport+ 2wd didn't have one,,but my friend's family had two '01's both 4x4 quad cab 4.7's, and they had that bar in the back.

Message: I was thinking something along those lines. Just doesn't seem big enough to have an effect. It is a 4x4 QC. Seems to be fine without it. Oh well. Technical name for it "hangy wiggly bar".

Message: It's just a dampener and it was only on the quad cabs. I took mine off also due to a roll pan. No big deal..... saved about 40 pounds though.
