Subject: Parking Brake Light IP: Logged
Message: On my dad's 2001 Dakota quad cab, the parking brake light warning will blink, even though the brake is not engaged, until we turn the car on and off again, or play with the p-brake a while. Sometimes driving for a while will fix it, too.
It started when my mother tried to drive it with the parking brake on pretty stiff. :-(
2001 5.9L Quad Cab
Any thoughts as to how we can get it to stop blinking when it's not engaged?

Message: Two things to check. First, it the parking brake pedal FULLY released? You can check by pulling the release handle and lifting up on the parking brake pedal with your hand. There is a small switch on top of the park brake that must be pushed in by the lever. If the light goes out when you lift, you've found the problem & can correct it.
Second, have you checked your brake fluid level lately? I'm wondering if you're resevoir is just a bit low, and the brake fluid is sloching around, making the warning light flash.
Good luck,
