Message: My 99 Dakota with 90,000Km surges 100 to 200 RPM when on the higway at various speeds. I first noticed the problem when on cruise. Replacing the sparg plugs helped some but now it is back cruise or no cruise. Any ideas. It is off warrenty.

Message: Garth this seems to be a very common problem luckly its simple and easy to fix. The problem is the Throttle Position Sensor. OR (TPS) It happened to me and about 5 other people on this form. Go to the dealer and buy a TPS for the engine you have 3.9 5.2 and 5.9 are the same. It will cost 30 to 50 bucks. It comes with instructions to install and it is very easy you just have to watch how the old one comes of. If you dont want to do it your self then just bring your truck to dodge and tell them its the tps. They might say let us keep it or one of the technitions will drive it home. Tell them just to change it you will take the chance. But it is the TPS.
