Message: HA! Yeah, I guess I should be a little more specific. Where in CO? Have you done any exhaust work to your truck?

Message: Not really any significant exaust work, but I did have a performance muffler installed. It's a Ravin that is sold by Midas, and sounds great. Also installed an Airaid Intake and combined with the Ravin, I can feel some improvement, but nothing to write home about. On the other hand, I'm not interested in racing my 4x4. I have an 01 RC with 4.7 multi-speed auto, and am very happy with it. It's my daily driver, and has handled snow, ice, and 4 wheeling including the San Juan mountain Jeep trails without a whimper. Getting 16 mpg around town and 20 on the highway. Have had no problems. How about you Manuel?

Message: I've got a 98 ext cab 4x4 with a 5.2. It was a daily driver until I got a job downtown. Employer pays for public transportation. So now it hauls my dirt bikes, gets me to the mountains and I do some jeep trails. Nothing too extreme, but enough to justify 4 wheel drive. I'm getting ready to do my exhaust, and I'm really having a time deciding. I think with all the info I've gathered I'll probably end up with a 3" single. Now I need to know what kind to go with. I've got a list of places to call tommorrow. Can you suggest anyone? What does that Ravin sound like with the rest of the exhaust stock?

Message: Hey Mike here in Firestone, CO Have a 01 QC 5.9 yep as usual I luv my truck. I just ordered the KN FIPK for it. Next will be exhaust, you'll have to let me know how yours turns out.
Dak does great off road for a stock turck, whish Rancho would hurry up with their kit.
Maybe we should all hook up some time and do middle St. Vrain near ward, about a mid level trail, not bad though.
Let me know how the new pipes work out!
Mike

Message: Yay for Colorado.
I had a flowmaster exhaist in my truck. Then I ran into some unfortunate rocks in Moab, and had to replace it.
Took her to Midas as my welding lacks in skill. They put on the Ravin exhaust, and adapted it.
So I now have a basterdized flowmaster.

Message: I'll let you know how I like my new exhaust. I'm still shopping though. Jeff, if your looking for some trails to play around on, try along Rampart Range rd by Garden of the Gods. Nothing extreme, and they are short little trails, but good for a nice drive in the mountains.

Message: Thats where I thought I would start... I went up about a mile or two before I turned back ran out of time. If any one else knows of any good area for a novice to get a feal for 4wd let me know. A good muddy trail would be great.

Message: Jeff, if you should happen to be up here in Denver or west of Denver, there's some nice little trails between Kenosha pass and the town of Jefferson. Those are long trails, you could spend all day up there. Not extreme though. I'm not a hardcore 4-wheeler and I don't have a problem up there. All my serious off-roading is done on a dirt bike.

Message: Hey Manuel, I spent some time in that same area, (lost creek, Tarryall) in the early spring. It was pretty hairy then with the roads covered with snow and quite a bit of mud. Now during the summer, though it is tamed. The wife and I have a favorite campsite tucked away up there.

Message: Lost creek is to the South of 285, isn't it? We have a nice camp space to the north of 285. We can off road all the way to Webster Pass and Redcone.

Message: I went with the ext cab, not just because of my daughter, but its useful for camping trips. I had a reg cab F-250. I got sick of having to put all my camping stuff in plastic bags or under a tarp in case it rained. Now I just throw the stuff I want to keep dry in the back seat.

Message: My kids are just now grown up and the reg cab is perfect. Slapped on a hard tonneau and weather stripped the tailgate for dust and water proofing.
Yup, lost creek is on the south side of 285. Planning on doing some of the roads off of Guanella pass via Georgetown the week after next during a vacation.

Message: Count me in here - live N. Thornton not far from Weld Co. line. '92 std cab & bed, 3.9 6, 108K. A true champ. Original owner, stole her off the lot back in Michigan just before Dodge got hot back in the 90's. Had new truck fever this past spring, then decided she's PAID for, and 2 mechanics have since said she's in top shape. Sooo, she'll go into the shop next week to get transformed into a dark blue metallic sweetie. Only gripe is that she gets a bit winded pulling up in the mountains, recently put in a K&N filter, which helped somewhat. Still would like more power overall. Any suggestions? (BTW, Jim's NOT a gearhead, so keep it simple!)

Message: Jim, I have a Flowmaster exhaust on order. I have a 5.2, so the results might not be the same. I will definitely post how I like it though. Also, I used to work with this guy who said Midas could fabricate a cold air intake and you would save a lot of money over the K&N gen II. You would still have to buy the filter though.
