Can some one tell me what are the three Dakota models designated Gen I, II, or III? I thought with the 2005 Dakota it would be labled the Gen III. Wasn't there only two other body styles previous to the 2005?

i believe that from what I have read on here that the 2005's will be Gen IV.

Mopar considers '87-'96 as Gen1, and '97-2004 as Gen2.

Can anyone tell me if the later Gen2 headlights will fit my early ('91) truck? I'm looking at these on eBay;

I'm sure it can be done but you will need a newer grill and probably some of the bracing, a new hood, maybe a bumper, turn signal lights and side markers,and some re-wiring. A lot of work but possible.

All of the '91's that I've seen are gen I and '92 are gen II. Also, the gen II's along with the new front end have the magnum engine.

some 91s had the seal beam lights and some had the capsule lights.

all first yr of genII
