 Subject: Airbag sensor location?

There's a plate, or something, that has to break in the front of the truck for the airbag to pop, right? In a 1995. Where is it, any idea? I don't want to accidentily cut through it, or something.

As far as I know it's an inertia switch. That means that it takes a certian g force (inertial force) to break a bearing away from a holding spring, that bearing completes a circuit and is part of the circuit to deploy the airbag.

Right on Hurl.
There is actually two inertia switches. One is on the front of the truck, usually bolted to the radiator support, near where the hood latches. The second is in the airbag computer itself. Both switches must be subjected to enough intertia to set off the bags. This prevents expansion from a side impact to the nose.

HEY I NEED HELP!!! I HAVE A 2001 DAKOTA AND I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT TODAY. I HIT A CAR GOING APPROX. 35-40 MPH WHILE THEY WERE AT A DEAD STOP. MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH DODGE BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DEPLOYATION IS LIKE 15 MPH- NOW THE TRUCK'S BAGS COULD GO OUT ANYTIME WITH EVEN A MINOR IMPACT. WHERE ARE THESE SENSORS AND WHY DIDNT THEY GO OFF? PLEASE HELP.

PUT YOUR BONG BELTS ON AND BONG ON DOWN TO BONG BONG TOWN AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET A SEAT BELTS CONNECTORS. IF THAT DONT FIX IT BONG ON OVER TO THE DEALER AND BEND OVER.

REPLACE THE COCKSPRING AND THE AIR BAG SENSORS THERE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IF YOU REALLY WANT BUT I SAY GET RID OFF THE AIR BAGS THEY DONT DO ANYTHING TO HELP HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ONE GO OFF IN YOUR FACE ITS NOT PRETTY YOU CAN GET F*CKED UP REALLY BAD DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND GET RID OF THE AIR BAGS AND REMOVE THE AIR BAG LIGHT IN THE DASH AND THERE YOU PROBLEM IS SOLVED ENLIGHTENING ONE DUMBA$$ AT A TIME
