Subject: fluids?

i have a 2000 club cab with the 4.7L. im going to change my transmission fluid and filter along with the rear end fluid, i have the positive traction. my question is how much is the fluid capacaties on each and i need to know what is the weights or ratings(as in atf3 or 90w) is the synthetic any better?

I use the weight that is suggested in the owners manual in the rear end and switched to synthetic. I wouldn't suggest synthetic in the trans (if you have an auto) because some people are reporting problems. On the rear end, don't forget to put the additive for LSD rear ends in with the oil. The amounts are listed in the owners manual.

Just put it in until it comes out top fill plug for rear end. mine took around 2 quarts. Couldn't tell you about auto tranny. Anyone?

Right - 2 quarts for the rear end. Sorry that I can't help you with the tranny. My son has all my info at his house right now.

Look its always been and still is you fill the diff with fluid until its just below the fill plug and same with the standard tranny,of course this is on a level ground,auto tranny put in 6-7 litres and run it keep shiftin all the gears and keep checkin dipstick till its full,its that easy also yes you need friction modifier in the LSD rear end or if you use synthetic most of them have modifier all ready added,read the label
