 Subject: Windshield Wiper Motor Recall

Just got a recall notice in the mail affecting 02-04 Dakotas and Durangos. Water can get into the wiper motor and cause the motor to fail, resulting in a "crash without warning." Great. Now I have to bring it back to the dealer for the 11'th time in the four months since I bought my 04 Reg Cab. Wish I could bring it back for good.

Well the good news is only take 20 mins to fix the problem. Had mine done today. I guess I should knock on wood or something. I have had my Dak since Jan 03 (28K miles) and have not had any problems yet.I do however check the ball joints every time i change the oil.I did however buy an extended warranty, 11 times have you checked in your states Lemon laws?

Funny, I took my 04 Quad V8 into my dealer for emissions and safety inspections and asked for the recall fix while they were at it. All of a sudden, a dealer who has always advertised themselves as requiring no appointments, and which has taken me on a walk-in basis for everything from routine maintenance to diagnosing wierd steering wheel vibrations, is telling me they can't fit me in for at least a week. Also their next available appointment is on a weekday when I need my vehicle to get to work. I'm wondering now if this was a stalling tactic sicne they know part is on back-order.

I was in a few a weeks ago and got my replaced in about 20 minutes. I went out to the service area and asked to see what the deal was and the mechanic showed me where they put a piece of metal over the motor. So it looks like they just want to protect the windshield wiper motor from any water getting to it.
