Subject: 1994 Dakota - Water in Oil - Tips needed

Hi everyone,

I posted this the other day in the V-6 Forum, and got a few tips, but I need additional clarification on some stuff.

http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/v6/9970.html

Basically I've learned afew tips. fill the cooling system, and crank it over with no spark plugs, and see if water sprays out a cylinder, or, if it comes out fo the oil pan if I remove the drain plug.

I also know to do a compression check.

What I'm looking for clarification on, is how to determine if it's a leak in the intake or head gasket, a cracked head, or a cracked block.

Any tips would be appreciate, as I really need to get my dakota back up and running. the crapper is 2 years ago I put a new motor in the dodge. :-(

Thanks in advance!

first pulling the plugs and taking compression
is,nt going to tell you nothing except what your compression is ,if the truck is,nt skipping

pull the intake, check the intake gaskets one should show signs of leaking coolant,
if everything looks ok move to the heads

remove heads check the gaskets here,if they look ok

have the heads magnaflex or pressure checked for cracks

one of these things should be your problem, the block is last thing
