 Subject: door handles

Anyone know where I can get a set of exterior door handles for a quad cab besides the dealer? I want to paint mine but since I need the truck everyday, I can't. Figure I'll buy a new set, paint them, and then sell the old ones.

Only other option would be the wreckers. They might even loan / rent you a set if you explain your situation.
Personally, I'd just drive the truck with no handles for a couple days while they get painted up. Leave the windows open.

Here's what I went thru. I took my mirrors off my R/T to get color matched. Two body places said they cant do it because the mirror were "textured". Paint wont stick, even if prepped. So I had to get a pair ordered that were smooth so I could get painted. My door handles are textured to match the mirrors. So there is no getting them color matched. However there is good news to this story. I have been in contact with AMI and they are making Billet door handles and tailgate handles for the Dak's. They are not done as of yet. Dont know what the hold up is. Probably got some Chevy or Ford problem to fix first. Mopar suckin hind titty again. Anyway.....The lady from AMI is going to contact me when they get through with fit and finish. So I am holding out for a set of those.

I sanded my textured door handles and mirrors myself. Took a few hours but the paint job came out flawless. Billet door handles? I've heard it all now.

i sanded and painted mine.take a day off,sat or sun or whatever.take em off,sand em,prime em,have a few beers put them on in the afternoon.mine worked out fine

I'll be offering painted door handles, and cab strips for $190 + $80 core charge on the 3 handles (drivers/passengers & tailgate). These will be done with the factory paint codes, currently doing a black right now, flame red to follow shortly.

ScojoDak-- Sorry, been swamped with all the projects and having a real job for a living.
I DO have a set of Mopar Covers, Red, ready to go-- call me today after 4 pm - 619-274-1292 and I can give you the details.

As far as the handles go, I am still ramping up for the different colors, and having the cores... I am not sure on the quad cab rear handles-- if they are different from the passenger/driver's side front doors--- ALSO-- door handles 97-99 are one pn, 2000 another, and 2001-2003 another as well... I currently have about $800 in cores, enough to handle 10 different vehicles-- It's a lot of work to prep these properly, and then it comes down to correct paint codes, etc. etc.. You can see the frustration on trying to get them RIGHT, and offer them in a timely fashion.
I'll have more info soon, as I am moving everything to a shop over the next few weeks-- then the fun begins.

i took my door handles and the rubber strips on the roof to a local paint shop and they matched the paint and clear coated and came out great only about $100
