Subject: Beat by a rusty Bronco!! IP: Logged
Message: OK guys. I have a gut-less 99 dakota ext. cab with a V-6 and auto trans. My cousins girlfriend just blew me away in her bone stock rusty ole 87 Bronco with a 302. She killed me off the line and i started to catch up once i hit second gear but she might have let off. What can i do to make sure this doesn't happen again without going bankrupt??!! I'm sick of being slower than just about everything on the road. It goes pretty good once i get out of first gear but the sluggishness it has off the line really sucks.......

Message: FIRST THING IS DO A TUNE UP! This will be a
good starting point and allow you to find areas
that need work.
Consider investing in a cat back exhaust. best
bang for the buck.
Get a k&n filter, let that engine breathe.
Consider a chip if youve got the bucks.
Next start with unloading all that s**t you have
in your truck that could be holding you
down...tool boxes, that extra case of beer, and
those 2x4s from your last deck job.
Also if you plan to race consider running a half
tank of gas. this will keep your weight down,
unless you have trouble keeping the rubber
planted, then top it up...but it sounds like this
isnt your problem anyways.
next issue...gutting your interior...

Message: Dont feel bad tim,the 302 is a fine motor. Think of it as a Mustang instead of an old bronco, both had the same 302 in `87. jj
