Subject: Need Recomendation of Floor Jack Height IP: Logged
Message: Have a 2004 Quad Cab 4x4. What capacity floor jack do I need? Also, what lift height do I need to get the tires off the floor?
Thanks,

Message: I have a 3-ton that has a lift height of 21". Works fine. I think anything less and I'd have problems getting it up high enough to even get the tires off.

Message: When I use even my scissor jack that comes with the truck, I just put it under the A frame on front, or the leafs in the rear, and only lift it like an inch or two so the wheel is off the ground.
If you're changing a flat, you need something pretty thin to get it under there though.
I think it's safer than lifting the body to get the wheels off the ground.

Message: I got a cheapie 2&1/2 ton floor jack. No problem
lifting my 02 4X4 Dak.
Just one safety thought, Don't even THINK about
going under your truck without safety jacks!
Even a 10 ton jack can fail lifting a 2 ton load!
Not worth the risk even for a second!
