hhaaha hell yeah v6's i5,s hell anything other than an 8,10, or 12 cylinder should never have a flowmaster or dual exhaust.. they sound terrible. im speaking from experience here ive got a 6.. tried flowmaster but took it off on first day. Chevys are sh1t , everone i know thinks the colorado /canyons are ugly.. my dakota gets continuos compliments and its relatively stock. i will never own a cheaply built chevy product in my life.. hell if they can ruin hummer they can ruin anything (remember how badass the pre-GM H1 was)

The Colorado I-5 has modified with a supercharger and turbo, and engine swap with LS2 (6.0) all reaching around 350HP. The I-5 exhaust sounds like the Viper if you are standing on one side of it. Imagine that it is a V-10. The reason the I-5 was used is because it has the torque to tow compared to the small V-8's, the horsepower to go compared to V-6, and the MPG compared to a I-4 truck. As far as racing look at the NASCAR cars, they only offered in V-6 on the market and the engines used are larger than the Corvette. So anyone doing an engine swap including NASCAR by the standards mentioned here are for racing only. So get over the technology and be glad its not like the Ford Escape ... a FWD SUV/truck!!!!

JP - you are mistaken - the Colorado I5 has terrible torque for towing compared to a small v8; you might want to look at some power graphs before making claims like that...

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is all I can say.

I just had a guy ALMOST buy my Toy Hauler. The one seen attached to the back of my Dakota that has a GVWR of 7,700 Lbs.

Anyway. I really need to sell it but he called back and said after looking into it, he just is NOT going to be able to tow it with his I-5 TrailBlazer!

He also told me he has a regular smaller type travel trailer. And that his 4.0 I-6 JEEP CHEROKEE will tow that trailer FASTER up the hills than his new(er) I-5 Trail Blazer any day!

I thought that was funny to hear that, and then to read how bad a$$ some people THINK that engine is.
According to Chevy's ratings, it has more HP than our V8's. But you know that's a bunch if sheeeeeeet!

Sorry J.P., The colorado's I5 "kick" was the power of a v6 with the gas mileage of a 4 banger.
Even when I mentioned that to potential customers, they just didn't like it. Bad move for GM, people like options of an engine in thier truck. If you want more power you have to step up to a silverado. It's a sales tactic. The colorado is a bomb. It won't be too long before GM tries to cover up that mistake, you'll see a (replacement) soon.
There's no use in beating up Ford's escape either. If you can name a hybrid SUV that gets 33mpg, with the option of 4WD. Or if you came name the brand that has the best MPG on thier small pickups without mentioning Ford, we might want to hear from you again. I'm not trying to put Ford on a pedestal, but I'll put them in 2nd running of the big three.

The TrailBlazer has a I6;not a I5.

But I'm sure it can tow what ever your Dakota can.

STS, you are a true idiot. Looks like you don't even know the meaning of the word "sure". To be sure of something, you have to have some knowledge of it, but in this case you obviously don't. I've seen you post nonsense on numerous occasions about things you have an opinion on, but no knowledge; you make too many false claims here, apparently because you became disenchanted with your Dakota for whatever reason. Get over it, and stick to facts please ! If you want to come to a Dakota site to slam Dakotas, the least you can do is get your facts straight - otherwise you look like a real Bozo.

Hey graphitedak get your biased headout of your azz your comparing the Jeep 4.0 I6 to the GM 4.2 I6 your crazy, the Jeep only makes 190hp and 230tq vs the GM that has 290hp and 275tq. The Trailblazer would smoke that Jeep in towing 0-60 and the 1/4.

Gawd dang there are some jack A$$ES who come into the board!

When I mentioned the guy with the TRAILBLAZER who wanted to tow, he had the INLINE FIVE CYLINDER!!! NOT the SIX!

When the trailblazer first came out it had the BASE ENGINE being the INLINE FIVE. The upgrade was the INLINE SIX.
LATER they seemed to have dumped the POS I-5 and made the I-6 the base, and added V8 options.
The 6.0 being the ONLY one I think has any real good pulling power.

The Colorado has a BASE ENGINE of the INLINE FOUR BANGER! The INLINE FIVE is the only upgrade on it.

So as I said, the guy I tried to sell my trailer to has a INLINE FIVE Trail Blazer which he said could not tow like his 4.0 Jeep.

And to STS, I don't think the Trail Blazer can tow what my Dak can. It's an SUV and I obviously modded my gearing/suspension so that it tows strong and don't squat one bit with the heavy toung weight.

I wish these "Flamers" would stay in their NAMBLA chat rooms and stay away from the Hetero-Dodge MEN's forums!

I don't know about that guys.....my uncle has a 2005 Trailblazer with the V6. That thing is pretty strong. I have a 318 AND a 4.7 and i'm saying this. Also it has far more "refined" power. The 4.7 does come close tho.

Chris G. - There is no such thing as "refined" power, nor do I believe Graphite Dak made any reference about your uncle. Horsepower and torque, however, can be quantified and displayed on a graph for valid power comparisons; you might want to look up power graphs of what you are talking about before you sound any more foolish. You will not make a valid point here by making stuff up; you've almost dropped to the level of STS.

That I6 4.2 must be one peaky motor to be posting those numbers. You guys want to talk about towing power, you need to learn to look at power graphs, not peak #s. That's where you'll find meaningful towing comparisons. For example, the 4.7 makes almost as much torque as the peak torque of the 4.2 throughout its ENTIRE RPM RANGE; and more from 3000 - 5000 rpm. Now that's towing power. You might know cars, but you don't know trucks !
