Message: How many people have remote starters on their trucks and how many people are happy with them or not happy with them? I am getting it installed on my 97 V6 and ive heard that they mess with your cars computer system and are nothing but trouble. It comes as part of my new alarm (Python 881XP). anyone have any comments?

Message: All depends on the quality of the remote starter you put in. The Walmart ones are prone to nothing but trouble. Two years ago I bought one for $40 and had it installed in my Grand Prix. Worked for about 2 weeks, lol.

Message: Like he said. You get what you pay for. I had a pretty expensive one installed when I bought the truck in 2000. Cost about $250 as I recall. Works great, never had any problem. Since I park outside in the winter, I love it.

Message: if a local government entity uses the 810 mhz or so frequencies for its communication system, no matter what one you have, sooner or later a nearby transmission for police, fire, road commission etc. can and will set it off.

Message: I've installed a few of these systems. GTO/Koda is right on, and your Viper system should be good for a long time. The $40-60 units are good for about a year, then the electronics burn out.
