Subject: Where is my oil going? IP: Logged
Message: 99 club cab 5.2 v8, 100,000 miles
About every 3 thousand miles my dak is using a quart and a half of engine oil. I have checked the intake belly pan by looking down through the throttle body, and the bottom of the pan looked clean. I perfomend the TSB # 09-05-00 spark knock/ oil consumption check. And that too was good building up 3 psi of pressure in around thirty seconds. I did a vacum test and it was a little low reading a steady 16 inches of vacuum. Could it be a bad intake gasket or do I have other concerns to look at like valve seals. I cant smell any oil being burned or see any blue smoke it also doesn't leak any either. My truck pings like mad probably due to carbon build up. I'll be trying that cumbustion chamber cleaner this week. Any ideas to where my oil is going or if it is enough to worry about?

Message: that sure sounds like a belly pan, especially if the truck is pinging like crazy and has low vaccum. it may be leaking in one of the corners or an end where you can't see it just from looking in the tb.
