would it be worth it to do an engine swap for a '87 3/4 ton 4x4. it has a 318 in it, but its really underpowered for a 3/4 ton truck. what other mopar engine would be a direct swap? any help would be appreciated. i know its not a dakota, but its still a dodge.

did it come with a big block a small block or a six? in other words what engine mountes are already in it and do you have to swap them to get the engine to fit. other then the usual tranny and rear end front end and transfer case being strong enough there really aren't any issues.

it came with the 318 in it, and the tranny/transfercase/rearends will definetly be strong enough being it is a 3/4 ton truck.
