Subject: will longer shocks lift a truck IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 4wd quad cab. I put in 1.5 inch lift blocks in the rear and adjusted the torsion bars already. But i am looking to posibly get another 1 to 2 inches of lift will longer shocks do the trick. I am looking at edlebrock ias or bilstein or rancho also do you have part# recomendations. Any info would be great thank you in advance.

Message: No. A properly designed and installed shock does not actually support the weight of the vehicle. If you removed the shocks, the ride height would be the same. The shock absorbers should only do that - absorb the shocks from the driving surface.
Air Jacker shocks have been around since the beginning of time, it seems. Their purpose was to stiffen up the suspension under a heavy load. Many a teen ager has used them to jack up the rear of their Chevy.
But, the shocks mounts really are not strong enough to support the weight of the entire vehicle. If you want more than what you have now, you need to look in to a quality lift kit. Here's a good example of getting what you pay for.
