Subject: Place to re-chrome wheels in Georgia? IP: Logged
Message: Hey, I am interested in having my R/T wheels that are clear coated chromed. First, is this possible to do. If so, is there a place in or near Georgia. Is this expensive, I really can not afford new chrome wheels right now. thanks

Message: yeah, theres a few places in georgia, some near the border in tennessee to, only one near the big ATL, he's a one man person, company's called chrome for the street, I think, if you can get yer hands on an ATL phone book, look under =plating (services), I ended up talking to him a while back, seems that ever since that pesky little fly that won't seem to leave our engine emissions alone ( FYI, thats the EPA) doesn't take to kindly to the harsh chemicals that are required to perform chroming. This guy keeps his shop in two parts, first his business is actually out of his house, then he does the chroming out some 60 miles away from ATL, easier to get by EPA restrictions away form civilization.... its getting harder to find a competent chromer, so see what work anyone has done before forking over your rims ( and cash!) I've heard that theres a really great chromer up near nashville, but dunno who they are, never got the name....
BTW< I got most of my info working in classic auto restoration, looking into a few decent mopar or dare I say, other domestic brand early model restoration magazines might turn up something useful.
for the hassle, you might be better off saving up to get original chromes, after all is said and done, I'd be willing to gamble the costs are going to be fairly close, but a higher quality from original chromed rims... but you never know....you might get closer attention to detail with a pro shop... your gamble.....
hope I was helpful.....

Message: I DON'T HAVE ANY INFO ON A PLATTER, BUT I DID SEE A PLACE IN ONE OF THE TRUCK MAG'S THAT CHROMES OEM RIMS. THE WAY IT WORKS IS THAT YOU BUY THE RIMS READY TOGO AND RETURN YOUR WHEELS IN THE BOX BACK TO THEM. I WISH I COULD REMEMBER THE NAME BECAUSE I WANT TO DO THE SAME. THEY DIDN'T MENTION A PRICE THOUGH.
